Correction and Reflection III

えっ？間違いがあったの？

二週間前はダニエルという友達の誕生日だった。彼女は１９才になったわけだ。プレセントは何にしようかと考えていたが、中試験の間だったので、あまり時間がなかった。私は特別なプレセントを買うことが出来なかった。だから、私は他の二人の友達と話しあい、いい考えを思いついた。プレセントは一月のウォッカボトルと自分で作ったケーキにした。ケーキを作るために、私はエライザとエリザベツとデパートへ買い物に行った。コンフェッチのベーキングミックス、キャンドル、風船、アイシンッグを買った。それから、私たちはウィトマンにあるキッチンでケーキを焼いた。私はあまり料理をしないけど、簡単にケーキケーキを焼いた。タマゴと油と水をコンフェッチのベーキングミックスとまぜる。そして、オーブンに入れて、２０分待って、アイシンッグをつけて、出来あがり！その晩、私は他の１５人の友達とウィンベリーズへダニエルの誕生日を祝いに行った。食べ終わって、ケーキをダニエルにあげた。それから、皆でケーキを食べた。とても美味しかった！




Reflection: I'm pretty proud of this blog post. I took various risks by writing complex sentences and using new grammar points (e.g. in the sentence: ...１９才になったわけだ). On top of me writing complex sentences, there were considerably few errors in the post. The most consistent mistake that I made is the misspelling of katakana words (e.g. vodka, oven, icing). Some of these mistakes are understandable, considering that we were never taught the word, but I should have definitely been able to write 'oven' in katakana correctly. Another one of my mistake (only in one spot in my post) is mixing formal and casual speech. I often do this while speaking in Japanese. Additionally, I seem to have made various grammatical error when it comes to employing the continuous verb. Another correction that was made by the corrector was not necessary, but it made my post sounds more natural. Such sentence fluidity hopefully will improve as more blog posts are written.
